Vertex VXD-720 Keep contact updated

Is there anyone else using a Vertex VXD-720 that can tell me how you keep the contacts updated in the codeplug? Is there a way to import them from another codeplug? I know the contacts generator page only works for Motorola radios. Any help is appreciated.

  1. Unfortunately, the only way to update the contacts is manually, or via copy and paste from another VXD-720 or VXD-7200.

  2. I was able to copy & paste from Motorola CPS to my Vertex CPS back when I had a 7550. It takes some trial & error with copy/paste. Typically I manually edit/add users to my VXD to add new users. The main hindrance with the VXD 720 and 7200 is the limited number of memories for Digital Contacts. When I reach maximum capacity, I end up having to delete users from other regions to add new ones that are local and will likely see more often on the air.

Otherwise I love my XVD720 & 7200, and really should find a couple more as the CPS is not locked down with registration and fees. Unfortunately Vertex Standard has retired the VXD series and no longer supports them, as well as the CPS. I have the latest zipped CPS for them if anyone is interested.

    1. I would love to get the zipped CPS for the VXD 7200. I just bought two of them and having a hard time getting software. This group had said you could register on the Vertex site to get an account and free software, but that site sent me a message it is no longer active and directed me to Motorola support. I am guessing they won't be giving me a free version of the CPS.
